New York City Raped my Wallet

So my birthday was a few days ago and to celebrate I went to NYC with some friends.  Now...I love New York and all, it's my favorite place in the world, but GOD DAMN is that city expensive.  Within our first hour of being there we spent $100, and that was just the first hundred of many to be spent over the course of the next 24 hours.

We walked past the huge H&M on 5th avenue and, as usual, couldn't resist going in.  And then we convinced ourselves we needed better outfits for going out later that night.  My friend Jon,
who was with me, has far better taste in fashion than I do seeing as he lives in the city.  He did a whirlwind around the store and picked out a bunch of stuff for me to try on.

We decided on an adorable little ruffly dress and a pleated and flowy black top.  Jon, who is the most generous person in the world, bought me the dress.  He also bought us a tres expensive but delicious dinner at Spice Market in the Meatpacking district later that night, along with many, many drinks.  Bless his soul.

One dish we tried at Spice Market was the Salmon Sashimi with garlic and lemon soy.  We also had shrimp spring rolls with dill and siracha (whatever that is).  My favorite was the duck entree.

After Spice Market, we went to a club underneath Merkato 55 (also in Meatpacking).
One rum and coke, out of many: $18
Dinner: >$200
Skipping the line, dancing to techno with random gay dudes, having amazing friends who showed me a great time on my birthday and getting back to the apartment at 5 am: priceless
