Tonight I trekked to the movies and saw Pineapple Express, accompanied in the theatre by throngs of teenagers who were probably high on something other than their sugary jumbo-sized Pepsis. The movie's dumb-witted stoner humor gave me a few good laughs, but also made me cringe at times from the unexpected violence and gore in a movie celebrating pot heads.
The scene where James Franco tries to piece together Seth Rogan's gunshot-wounded ear was disgusting, yet it made me giggle...these kinds of ridiculous and funny yet bloody and violent scenes captured most of the film.
There were some homosexual undertones between all of the male characters which seemed unnecessary and kind of weird, but the huge gay black dude was pretty hilarious.
Seth Rogan was the same down-to-earth goofy guy that he is in every movie while James Franco is barely recognizable with his long hair and spaced-out attitude.
I'd say go see it with friends. If you're a guy you'll probably love it. If you're a girl you'll be rolling your eyes, but will laugh sometimes.
Hey, if you don't like it at least you can relieve your munchies with popcorn and candy.
